I was a digital design intern in the Design Co-Op program during the Fall 2022 session in the Oral Care department at Procter & Gamble. During my time there I was given the opportunity to create impactful digital solutions for the oral care department across a variety of platforms.

How might we redesign our denture cream website to become an informational site for denture wearers of all levels and people looking into dentures?
The Fixodent brand is Procter & Gamble’s denture adhesive product line. While the website mainly markets the product, the oral care department wanted to shift its focus to expand beyond the product and turn the site into an informational hub for all denture wearers.
I looked to the communities of denture wearers online on Reddit, Facebook, and Tiktok to try to understand and make sense of the issues they were facing and what information they were seeking to see if there were any knowledge gaps we could fill in on the Fixodent website.
I asked 3 new denture users to walk through the Fixodent website and recorded their reactions to the usability of the site in order to understand what current issues the site faced.
I wanted to guide the redesign based off of the findings from the user feedback and website audit, so I created a user flow focusing on how denture wearers with questions would be seeking information on the website to help me target certain areas on the site.
In order to see if redesigning the site had helped streamline the content and made it easier for users to find relevant denture content to them, I asked 6 users to walk through the site and find a certain piece of information. Afterwards, I asked them about their experience and received the following feedback.
How might I design a sharing experience for the future of the iO app?
As part of my intern projects, I was challenged to design something that would benefit the department of oral care. When speaking with users of the Oral B iO toothbrush, I found that many users mentioned they used these toothbrushes with their families, leading me to want to design something that could benefit older users of a family unit.
I created a feature for the Oral-B iO app that would allow users to share brushing data with others, leading to a more connected oral health experience.
I illustrated a use case to better show how the sharing feature might be implemented in a user’s life and bring more value to the Oral-B iO app.
I tested my prototype with 6 users who were current users of the Oral-B iO toothbrush and uncovered the following insights.
How might we design a better way for dentists to help their patients improve their personal oral care post appointment?
Currently, the oral care department has been working with dentists to see how they might be able to improve the patient experience with their oral care providers. The dental hygienists that work with this department mentioned that they did not see much patient improvement between appointments. We wanted to create a digital solution incorporating the Oral-B iO app to target this issue.
I designed a visual note taking interface that a dentist could use during a patient's appointment to point out areas of improvement to the patient so that they would be able to remember to care for those spots more post appointment.
Along with the research provided by the dental hygienists, I spoke to 6 users about their dental appointment experiences and discovered 2 main pain points.
To illustrate how a digital feature on the Oral-B iO app could enhance the communication between a dentist and their patient, I created this storyboard to show the benefits of a dentist being able to leave notes on the app.
I tested my earlier low-fidelity prototypes with the oral care department’s dental hygienists to understand how my designs could be improved and received the following feedback.
